Buy a ticket and you could win the April People Plus raffle of a set of kayaks. The gorgeous pair of handmade kayaks was gently used and generously donated by Margo and David Knight. Using the “strip building” technique, the Knights hand-crafted these boats by gluing together each individual piece of wood. This painstaking process ensures a beautiful and watertight construction.

People Plus has announced the launch of its Annual Appeal fundraising campaign. During this year of COVID-19, People Plus has had to cancel all fundraising events; so it has set a goal of $65,000 for this year’s campaign. The 45 year old non-profit has two “matching donors” to help bring in funds.

People Plus was awarded the 2020 United Way of Mid Coast Maine’s Campaign Public Service Division Award at their 2020 Finale Meeting. The People Plus VTN (Volunteer Transportation Network) has shifted focus to keep homebound seniors well supplied. Normally, our drivers are taking participants to doctor appointments, physical therapy, grocery stores, hair appointments and more. Now our volunteer drivers are grocery shopping and getting prescriptions for area residents and members alike!

In our new program, People Plus staff and volunteers are calling local seniors on a regular basis to have a chat! Our office coordinator called over 400 people to check in on them and see if they would like a daily phone call.

Stacy and our instructors have filmed videos of your favorite classes from the Center. We have videos on Yoga, Tai Chi, Learn Tai Chi movements, Zumba, Qigong, Chair Yoga, Zumba, Loosen Up, Meditation and more. We hope our members will keep up their exercise routines and we hope seniors from all over (and non-seniors too) will try our classes and exercise from their homes.
