Volunteer Opportunities at People Plus

DRIVERS (On-call)

Duties:  To give rides to those in our community who are without transportation and need trips to medical appointments or for shopping.

Work environment:  Your car, pick-up and drop-off locations

Qualifications/skills:  Good driving and criminal records background; comfortable with walkers, canes, and those using them; patience; good communication skills; good listener, desire to help your community and meet new people. No lifting required.

Job training provided:  Yes

Times:  A minimum of two to three times per month. You may choose a day or be on call.

Hours:  Each need is uique. Usually one to two and a half hours.

 

 “GOOD MORNING” ASSOCIATE

Duties:  To check on our Good Morning participants at 9:30 in the morning. This program provides for daily call-ins by registered participants to say they are O.K. Volunteers are responsible for follow-up if the participants have not called in. A short but important position.

Work environment:  An office with phone located at the Brunswick Police Department

Qualifications/skills:  Good verbal and hearing skills, friendly and confidential, and comfortable working alone but down the hall from others.

Job training provided:  Yes

Times:  Usualy every other week.

Hours:  9:30 a.m. to 10:15

Ambulatory Care
Volunteers make patient packets for the Pre-Opt Teaching unit, as well as other clerical duties.
Gift Shop
Volunteers are sales associates-- greeting patrons, operating the cash register, stocking selves, pricing merchandise, arranging displays and performing other duties under the direction of the manager.
MCH Information Desk/Transport Team
Volunteers greet patients and visitors, give directions, transport patients in wheelchairs to all areas of the hospital, deliver mail, flowers and newspapers to patient rooms, run errands for all departments, answer a multitude of questions, etc.
Medical Office Building Information Desk
Volunteer greet patients and visitors at this entrance, directing them throughout the MOB or to the hospital.
Women's Health
Volunteers are receptionists on this unit, greeting and welcoming patients, families and visitors, and perform clerical duties as requested.
Emergency Department
Volunteer perform a variety of tasks, including answering the phone, copying documents, making up stretchers, retrieving medical records, escorting patients to other areas of the hospital, helping with families in any way possible and with other duties that the staff deems appropriate.
Intensive Care Unit
Volunteers answer the phone, run errands, copy, assemble charts, assist with families and visitors, and be helpful in every way possible.
Food and Nutrition Services
Volunteers assist with various kitchen duties, transporting food to the Caf, and taking guest trays to the patient units.
