How many of you read the Times Record every day?  Or maybe just read it sporadically?  Maybe you're a Fridays only kinda person?

Well, if you aren't reading it on Mondays I hope to give you a reason to buy the paper starting on January 23!

I am very excited to tell you that beginning Monday, January 23rd, People Plus will be launching a new full-page section in the Times Record that will run the 4th Monday of every month – “The Pulse” will be the go-to place for what's happening at 35 Union Street!

We are so thankful to the Times Record for providing us the space to create this page.  Of course it will contain information on upcoming events and programs, and it will also have a corner for our non-profit and business partners in town, have a Teen Center Spotlight and will be filled with fun photos, stories, member artwork, member writing and more!

We have such a diverse group of positive people who come to People Plus and do so many things here every month that it will really take an entire page to talk about it all!

Like next week, Former Governor Angus King launches our "Author Chats" series on Wednesday, January 18th at 2 pm.  Don't miss this fun event - open and free to the public, King will share his new book, Governor’s Travels, a memoir of the six-month-long RV trip he and his family took across the country when his second term as Governor ended. We will have books available for purchase and King will sign copies for hours!

Lunch Connections is on Thursday the 19th featuring Frank Connor's home-made meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  You'll want to sign up today to get your spot at a table!  Call 729-0757 for a reservation.

The week of the 23rd you'll find that in addition to our regular packed schedule, we have Civil War Book Club on Monday the 23rd at 6:30PM, Cafe' en Francais on Tuesday the 24th at 2:30, and we are starting our monthly Women's breakfast on the 25th at 8am!

Like the very popular Men's Breakfast, this newly forming Women's Breakfast will be an informal gathering of ladies who come together the 4th Wednesday of every month to visit and share a meal.

We are kicking off this event with a homemade ham, onion and Asiago cheese quiche, granola with all the  toppings including nuts, dried currants, and local maple syrup and build your own Greek yogurt parfait with fresh fruit.  I hope that you will come and join us at 8 AM – ladies only of course!

And I can't forget to mention a new program starting on Thursday January 26, called “This week in Review” discussion group.  Like a book club for news junkies, this group will get three articles to read and discuss each week.  Call 729-7323 to register through Merrymeeting Adult Education.

Of course if you ever want more information about all of this or anything else that might be going on at People Plus you have just to check our great website calendar.  Every event has a full description when you click on it.  Check it out at www.peopleplusmaine.org.

So don't forget to buy the paper on Monday January 23rd or you'll miss the first of “The Pulse” pages!  We are very excited and hope you find the page fun, interesting and valuable!  If you miss it - come see us at 35 Union Street at People Plus, the center that builds community – I'll have several dozen extra papers ready to hand out!
